What are Snapshots used for?

Snapshots in Fina are essentially ways to "save" a specific point in history so that you can revert back to it if you've made any errors. Think about snapshots as version history control.

Snapshots will be most useful for when you've done a lot of work to categorize your transactions and want to ensure you don't lose this current state. The most common use for this is before rearranging your category schema after already categorizing lots of transactions. Often times someone may want to experiment with deleting categories, adding new categories, renaming categories, moving accounts between profiles, editing transaction rules, etc. We recommend taking a quick snapshot before making any big changes that may affect how you have categorized your transactions so that you may revert back in the event you don't like your new edits.

Fina will always keep your profile saved and up to date with new changes automatically; however, if you plan on making any large changes and may need to revert back, please ensure you take a new snapshot BEFORE making the big changes.
