Duplicate Data: Adding The Same Institution Multiple Times

Does Fina encourage to add the same account multiple times?

We do not encourage users to add the same financial account multiple times via Plaid or (or any of our live connectors). This can cause duplicate data and confusion if not done deliberately.

Currently, we have no way to prevent a user from adding the same institution twice & on occasion, a user may do this before their other data loaded if they didn't see it appear to connect successfully via one of our aggregators.

The only time a user may try to do this is intentionally is for exploring different ways of categorizing the same data within multiple different profiles. Again, we don't put a guard rail here so this is possible; but we would not recommend this action unless done deliberately for testing from an advanced user.

If data is accidentally added twice with the same institution, you will need to remove the entire institution. We recommend taking snapshots of any work done on the categorization side regularly so that you can always revert back to a previous version and not lose work here.
